February 21, 2008 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #8 Item Title C-9 Settlement Agreement with former employee Belinda King Issue/Rationale The Settlement Agreement with Belinda King, former employee, settles her lawsuit with the School Board of Clay County.   Ms. King filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida alleging discrimination on the basis of gender and violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family Medical Leave Act. Recommended Action Approve the terms of the settlement agreement. Financial Impact The School Board is insured for this matter with a $50,000. deductible.  The Settlement is for $15,000.   A clause in the insurance policy would require settlement under the deductible.   The results of continued litigation are uncertain.
